Judge postpones Arleen Ocasio hearing

Houston, TX – A federal court judge has delayed the hearing for embattled Houston Veterans Cemetery Director Arleen Ocasio. The hearing has been rescheduled for Friday, August 26, 2011 and the judge has ordered that Ocasio appear before the court.

Ocasio has rightly been under fire for not allowing the word “God” to be used during funeral proceedings. Ocasio has denied this but according to Houston veteran’s activist John Faulk, the plaintiffs in this case have twenty-five sworn affidavits from families proving Ocasio’s prejudicial behavior.

When this story broke, I did a little research on AO. Per the timeline, it looks as though she was in Chicago about the same time as Obama in the 1980s. Since she is an Obama appointee, perhaps she shares his leanings. Perhaps they knew each other during his days as community organizer.

The most recent hearing was closed do to the amount of protesters that showed up. The judge has heard arguments and deposed Ocasio but, as far as I know, has not made a ruling. I will update as soon as I’m unable to unearth any new info.

      Thanks – TK

  3. As a Navy submarine veteran and the husband of a widow, whose first husband, an Army veteran, that is buried at the Houston VA National Cemetery, I am incensed at the lack of coverage of the results of this hearing/trial/whatever! The public deserves to know about the way our federal government is interceding in all of our lives.

What happened to Ms. Ocasio and this case?

I search it once a week and there has been no decision/ruling. Like you I am a Vet and I’m very upset about the case. Sadly, if you google the case, my articles are the only thing that appear.
